Absalom Solomon Doutt, Jr

Absalom Solomon Doutt, Jr was born in 1835, the third known son of Absalom and Elizabeth Doutt. He moved to Ironton along with his brothers probably about 1855 and went to work as a collier in the pig iron furnaces. In October of 1856 he married Margaret Jane Abshire. No one knows why, but their son turns up living in Clarion County, Pennsylvania with his Grandmother in 1860, and neither Margaret Jane or Absalom Jr are listed in the census report.

In April of 1861 Absalom files for a divorce in the courts of Lawrence County, Ohio and then leaves to join the West Virginia Cavalry Volunteers. He served in the Civil war until June 29, 1864.

He returned to Pennsylvania and married Sarah Graffius Smith. They returned to Ironton, but within a very short time moved across the river to Greenup Co, Kentucky. Then he kept moving, always westward until he finally settled in Topeka Kansas. He died there in 1903.
